Activision denies rumors about Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Remastered

Activision has decided to respond to the rumors that have occurred in recent months, denying that one is in the works remastered version of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3.

For a long time, the best-known insiders in the world of Call of Duty have argued that Activision is also preparing the remastered of the third and final chapter of the classic Modern Warfare trilogy, the only one to have not yet undergone any recovery treatment after MW Remastered ( 2016) and MW2 Campaign Remastered (2020).

However, the company has never confirmed the return of Modern Warfare 3 in a remastered version, and indeed a few hours ago, after the meeting with investors in which a new and decidedly ambitious Call of Duty for mobile was also announced, it decided to deny the rumors.

“A remaster of Modern Warfare 3, campaign or multiplayer, does not exist. Any reports are otherwise incorrect “said a GameSpot an Activision spokesperson.

Activision has released a remastered version of the Modern Warfare 2 in 2020, and rumors suggested that Activision could try to do the same with Modern Warfare 3. Unlike MW Remastered, however, the re-release was limited to the single player component only, abandoning competitive multiplayer and special operations in co- op.

It is curious, however, that Activision has only now decided to deny the rumors about MW3 Remastered, which has been talked about for a very long time. Just a few weeks ago, for example, other rumors emerged about the alleged closure of the agreement between Sony and Activision for the publication of the game, which obviously were not confirmed by any official source.

Modern Warfare 3 It was originally developed by Infinity Ward and released on PS3, Xbox 360 and PC in 2011, reaping an extraordinary success: in the first 24 hours after the game’s release, more than 20 million copies were sold. The title has been the best-selling Call of Duty game ever for years, with 26.5 million copies sold in total, only being surpassed by the Modern Warfare reboot in 2019 (31 million units).
