Activision officially announces a new Call of Duty for mobile

All Game News

During today’s second quarter earnings call Activision Blizzard, the publisher officially announced that a new game in the Call of Duty franchise for the mobile market is currently under development.

Unlike Call of Duty Mobile, currently available on iOS and Android, Activision will not rely on Tencent for the creation of this new title. The company has in fact revealed that it has founded a new internal studio that will take care of the creation of the game, in collaboration with Beenox and Activision Shanghai.

The ambition, this time, is even greater than COD Mobile. The executives of the entertainment giant have in fact specified that this new title for smartphones and tablets could represent the opportunity to connect the Call of Duty ecosystem between console, PC and mobile. Can we therefore assume that a free to play chapter of the series will soon arrive on consoles and PCs?

Here is an excerpt from Activision’s speech a few hours ago:

We believe there is an opportunity to better connect mobile to the overall Call of Duty ecosystem and are aggressively hiring talent to help us on this journey. We have created our own in-house mobile studio and are leading a major recruiting effort through Beenox and Activision Shanghai to support development. And together, I think, as Daniel Alegre already mentioned during the call, these teams will lead a new unannounced mobile project in the Call of Duty franchise, which we are very excited about.

Since the game was released in 2019, Call of Duty: Mobile continues to be a huge success for Activision. In the earnings press release, Activision confirmed that the game “Is on track to exceed $ 1 billion in consumer spending this year”.
