The orange marsupial once mascot of PlayStation it was very close to having too his own animated series on Amazonbut apparently this will never materialize …

In recent years we have witnessed something that we thought was unthinkable until recently: Crash Bandicoot is back. Activision, in collaboration with Sony, has decided to give the green light to the reinterpretation of the first historic trilogy with Crash Bandicoot: N. Sane Trilogy, a collection created by Vicarious Visions that was a resounding success in sales – in February 2019, almost two years ago, there was talk of 10 million copies.

The American giant, given the prices of the character in strong recovery, has therefore decided to relaunch Crash with various projects: in 2019 it has arrived Crash Team Racing: Nitro Fueledthe expanded remake of the original CTR, and a few months ago it was the turn of Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time, the splendid platformer made by Toys for Bob on PS4 and Xbox One. If you are interested, in this regard, we remind you that on Amazon you will find the full-bodied artbook of the game at a strong discount.

In the midst of these projects, it seems, also had to find space for an animated series entirely dedicated to Crash.

In the last few hours, a video has risen to the fore, initially leaked through Redditwhich shows test footage of this mysterious animated series, which according to the author of the post would have been made by Activision in collaboration with Amazon, and in the works for about a year before being canceled. As you can see from the short video clip below, the animation style would have been very simple and in two dimensions, and judging by the video, the animated series would have been set at the beginning of the Crash story right after its mutation from part of Cortex.

A note, before continuing: the post on Reddit in question was deleted, but the footage was uploaded to YouTube from multiple channels. However, it is not said that Activision does not decide to block the use of these videos that technically should have remained secret.

The news of an animated series dedicated to Crash is certainly not new, because in the past, other studios tried to bring the character to the small screen. On the occasion of the very first chapter of the series dating back to 1996, for example, Naughty Dog had thought of making some cutscenes as cartoons, even if the material was later discarded by Sony. In 2007 there was a new attempt, this time in conjunction with the release of Crash of the Titans, this time too, however, blocked in the bud.

However, not many know that Crash Bandicoot has actually already appeared in an animated seriesmore precisely in an episode of Skylanders Academy on Netflix, in the company of Spyro. In fact, the character was also the protagonist of the game Skylanders Imaginators, which represented his return to video games in 2016 after many years.

What do you think? Would you have liked a Crash animated series?
