Do you remember Age of Mythology, the Age of Empires spin-off based on mythology? Well, even Microsoft remembers it, so much so that interesting news could be on the way …

In anticipation of the Age of Empires IV Fan Preview event, which allowed us to see the highly anticipated new chapter of the series in action, the developers of Xbox Game Studios, Relic Entertainment and Microsoft participated in a round table.

The goal was obviously to talk about Age of Empires 4but a curious question has attracted attention, concerning a game that has a certain connection with the series but which has not been heard of for some time: Age of Mythology.

Launched in 2002, AoM was a spin-off of the AoE series that abandoned the historical matrix to embrace a more fantasy and mythological context, based on the ancient gods of Greece, Egypt and Northern Europe.

Adam Isgreen, creative director of the Age of Empires franchise, was certainly not caught off guard when someone asked whether Age of Mythology will return someday with a Definitive Edition, a treatment that has been reserved for all chapters of AoE in recent years. His response bodes well for nostalgic gamers:

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: I don’t have forgotten Age of Mythology. I always remember it. Stay tuned. We haven’t forgotten about it. I love Age of Mythology. I love mythology in general. We love the franchise. We’re not pretending there isn’t or anything like that. We know it.

“We absolutely know”added senior executive producer Michael Mann. “We are listening [i fan]. We are listening to this request 100%. “

Microsoft re-released Age of Mythology on Steam in 2014then launching the expansion Tale of the Dragon in 2016. After 5 years of silence, the community asks to know if there are any news for the game, and at this point the words of those directly involved bode well.
