A new entry in the cast of the film adaptation of Borderlandswhose shooting is very close according to recent reports.
Just a few days ago Lionsgate and Gearbox announced the participation of Kevin Hart (Jumanji: Next Level, Fast & Furious: Hobbs & Shaw) to the film in the role of Roland, one of the hunters of the Crypt, who joined the already confirmed Cate Blanchett (Thor: Ragnarok, Cinderella, Blue Jasmine) in the role of Lilith.
The film directed by Eli Roth will also boast another Hollywood star who officially joins the production: Jamie Lee Curtisthe famous actress of Halloween, Knives Out And Scream Queenswill take part in the film of Borderlands in the role of Patricia Tannis.
Eli Roth commented on the news as follows:
Working with the iconic Jamie Lee Curtis has been my lifelong dream, and I’m so thrilled that she brings her humor, warmth and brilliance to the role of Tannis.
For those unfamiliar with the brand, Patricia Tannis is one of the most important non-playable characters in the Borderlands narrative universe. Scientist, archaeologist and scholar, Tannis is one of the characters most obsessed with the Crypts of the ancient Eridians, and has appeared with important roles in all the games in the series. In the first Borderlands, Tannis helps Roland and the other hunters from Pandora’s Crypt rebuild and decipher the map to find it. In the second chapter she instead helps the Crimson Raiders to defeat Handsome Jack, after being fired by the new Hyperion dictator. In Borderlands 3 she is instead committed to collaborating again with the Crimson Raiders to defeat the Calypso Twins, also hiding a surprising secret: following the previous events she has become one of the powerful universal entities called Sirens, just like Lilith.
At the moment we don’t know if the Borderlands movie will adapt a particular game from the Gearbox Software series or expand the narrative universe of video games, but we will certainly know more in the coming weeks.
The latest draft of the Borderlands script is by Craig Mazin (Chernobyl).
As we mentioned at the beginning, the shooting of the film should start shortly in Hungary. A release date for the film has not yet been announced.
The first video game in the series Borderlands was launched in 2009 to cheer, and in the fall of 2019, the highly anticipated third installment also arrived. To date, the series has sold more than 66 million copies.
Avi Arad and Ari Arad are the producers of the film adaptation of the game, as is Erik Feig. The executive producers are instead Randy Pitchfordformer executive producer of the Borderlands franchise and founder of Gearbox, e Strauss Zelnickpresident and CEO of Take-Two Interactive.
