Gamers are used to talking about the problems of games, but this time the question is more curious. In the last few hours, a video on TikTok that went viral highlighted what has been described as a historical inaccuracy that left some members of the community perplexed.

Responsible for this hot new case is the user spectrexgamingwhich brought to light a mystery related to the sights available for Vanguard’s weapons.

In an ironically titled upload “Love historical accuracy”which refers to the statements of the developers, the user notes that the red dot sights, one of the favorite optics of the series, were not actually used until decades after the end of World War II, the historical period in which the new game from Sledgehammer Games and Treyarch (this will take care of the Zombies mode, which will be a sequel to the events of Black Ops Cold War).

“If red dots weren’t deployed until 30 years after WWII, why are *** in Vanguard?” he asks himself in the video. According to historical notes, the red dots were not introduced until 1975, while the Second World War ended in 1945.

The video in question, which you can find below, was uploaded on August 28, and has been viewed almost 3 million times at the time of writing this news.

In reality, the solution to this historical dilemma is simpler than many users might think.

Sledgehammer Games has indeed claimed to have studied in depth the Second World War and its historical context to propose maximum accuracy, but also recalled that, like many other video games of this mold, Vanguard is not necessarily tied to the exact chronology of the conflict.

In a nutshell, this means that the developers have left a certain margin of creative freedom for their choices based on gameplay.

Call of Duty: Vanguard will be available from November 5th on PS5, Xbox Series X | S, PS4, Xbox One and PC.
