All Game News

Taking advantage of the announcement of the new content of mid-Season 2 for Black Ops Cold War, Activision has released some interesting details on the new update of Call of Duty: Warzonewhich in a few hours will see the arrival of one new patch of more than 50 GB.

The battle royale is therefore preparing to be enriched with new content, but there is also another important news: the patch will also serve to reduce the size Warzone occupies in system memory.

Through the post on the Call of Duty blog, Activision explained that this Warzone super-patch, which will also be available for those who own Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, will make sure that the two games take up much less space. than before on consoles and PCs, going to work on file compression.

The patch, which will be available for download on the morning of Wednesday 31 March, will therefore have a significant impact on the storage memory of the various systems, in which Warzone and Modern Warfare actually occupied disproportionate amounts of GB.

Here is what is explained in the blog:

Season 2 Reloaded also brings great news about a smaller, optimized file size in Warzone. Those who own the full version of Modern Warfare / Warzone, or who own the free-to-play Warzone game, will find their overall file size reduced on the respective platform.

Improvements to the overall content management system have been made possible through data optimization and streamlining of content packs required for individual game modes. This will come after a larger than usual one-time update for Season 2 Reloaded, which will include these optimizations and is needed to reduce the overall footprint; Future patch sizes for Modern Warfare and Warzone are expected to be smaller than expected for release March 30 at 11pm PST.

In addition to the ability to remove individual modes that are no longer played, owners of the full Modern Warfare experience will see more free space on their preferred platform. However, those wishing to continue playing Campaign, Multiplayer and / or Special Ops will need to reinstall the Enhanced Content Packs, which will be released alongside and shortly after the Reloaded Season 2 update.

The patch will have the following weight:

  • PlayStation 5: 52.0 GB
  • PlayStation 4: 52.0 GB
  • Xbox Series X | S: 57.8 GB
  • Xbox One: 57.8 GB
  • PC: 52.4 GB (Warzone), 133.6 GB (Warzone and Modern Warfare)

After the update, the size of Warzone (or Modern Warfare and Warzone, if you have them together) will be reduced to between 10 and 14 GB (or between 30 and 33). Here are the figures in detail:

  • PlayStation 5: 10.9 GB (Warzone), 30.6 GB (Warzone and Modern Warfare)
  • PlayStation 4: 10.9 GB (Warzone), 30.6 GB (Warzone and Modern Warfare)
  • Xbox Series X | S: 14.2 GB (Warzone), 33.6 GB (Warzone and Modern Warfare)
  • Xbox One: 14.2 GB (Warzone), 33.6 GB (Warzone and Modern Warfare)
  • PC: 11.8 GB (Warzone), 30.6 GB (Warzone and Modern Warfare)
