CD Projekt Red he intends to change the way he works, and that also means starting to develop his biggest franchises in parallel. Besides Cyberpunkwe obviously refer to the series The Witcher.
The company shared some new information on its development plans during its recent financial presentation, where it revealed how it is preparing to continue working on the two franchises at the same time.
Among the information already leaked yesterday, there is the particular issue of the multiplayer of Cyberpunk 2077, or perhaps it would be better to say of the Cyberpunk themed online game that CDPR had been promising for some time. As we discover from the words of those directly involved, the game has been reconsidered by the developers, which may indicate that the nature of the project has changed.
The news does not end there, however. CD Projekt Red says it is changing its development management to allow the studio to start creating more AAA games and expansions in parallel, starting next year. This means that, after completing the (long) improvement operations of Cyberpunk 2077, in 2022 CDPR will focus not only on the game’s expansions but also on the development of The Witcher 4.
“We plan to create cross-functional teams to work on both IPs”has explained in the presentation on head of production Paweł Zawodny. “These teams will mix disciplines and skills, so we have closer communication and sharing of skills right from the start. Cross-functional teams allow different aspects of development to work in tandem without complications. “

CD Projekt Red also confirmed during the presentation that it will continue to focus on single-player RPGs, while also pursuing new opportunities for the Witcher and Cyberpunk franchises.
I work on The Witcher 4 (working title) will then begin over the next year. Currently we do not know if the protagonist of the series will still be Geralt of Rivia or if he will pass the baton to another character, perhaps Ciribut it is also true that there is still a long time to go before the first information on the matter arrives.
