In the light of the latest statements from the Polish software house, it is not certain that Cyberpunk 2077’s online multiplayer will arrive as promised. Or maybe it won’t even come.
We have known for some time that CDPR is planning an online multiplayer version of its latest game, which will arrive in the very long term. Months ago, well before the launch of Cyberpunk 2077, CD Projekt Red claimed to be working on a standalone product, independent from the rest of the game and which would not have represented “only” an online mode of Cyberpunk 2077. The work to do was however, a lot, and the priorities at the time were other, so much so that the developers even spoke of 2023 as a plausible launch window, while admitting that the hope was to publish it by 2022.
The new update video from CDPR, however, throws a veil of uncertainty over Cyberpunk 2077’s online gamewhich may no longer be part of the company’s plans as it was originally intended.
President and CEO Adam Kiciński said: “We previously mentioned that our next AAA would be a multiplayer Cyberpunk game, but we decided to reconsider this plan. Given our new, more systematic and agile approach, instead of focusing primarily on a great online experience or game, we are focusing on bringing all of our franchises online one day. “
Claim that, as you have just read, does not confirm or deny the development of the previously announced Cyberpunk 2077 online multiplayer game, but certainly suggests that something has changed considerably in CDPR in the last few months.
Kiciński goes on to talk about the online components of his games, but without going into detail. “We are building online technology that can be seamlessly integrated into the development of our future games.
