Cyberpunk 2077 was a major media event between 2020 and 2021, culminating in the total removal of the game from the PS4 and PS5 PlayStation Store. Despite the past months and the numerous corrective patches published, even today CD Projekt Red does not know when the game will be available for purchase again.
In this week’s new investor comments, collected by VGCAdam Kiciński, CEO of CD Projekt Red, said of not be aware of when Sony will allow the sci-fi GDR of the Polish studio of return available for purchase on PlayStation Store.
Currently, the only page available on the PS Store, both on PS4 and PS5 (the next-gen version has not yet been published), is the one that refers to refunds for those who have purchased Cyberpunk 2077. Kiciński confessed that he does not know when the situation will change.
“We are still in discussion and with each patch the game improves and there is visible progress, but as we said the decision is an exclusive Sony decision, so we are waiting for the information that they have made the decision to bring this game back.”he told investors.
Even today, for PlayStation users, the only way to shop Cyberpunk 2077 is through Amazon or other physical game retailers. In this regard, we would like to point out a very important discount on the PS4 version, as you can see below.
Despite the removal from the PS Store, Cyberpunk 2077 sales have been pretty good, at least initially. Given the huge budget used for the title (it is one of the most expensive video games ever), CDPR was confident in a huge response from the public, which for the first period actually arrived.
In the latest reports, however, it is clear that Cyberpunk 2077 has suffered a heavy backlash with regard to digital sales, which could also be caused by the absence of a version on the PlayStation Store – whose user base is enormous.
