Here we are: Konami unveils the official details of eFootball 2022, the official title of the first season of eFootball content.
After deciding to fix the name of the game, perhaps to avoid consumer confusion, the Japanese company has unveiled the details of the day one (and not only) and the release date of the free to play eFootball 2022, which will be available in all the world from September 30 on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X | S, Xbox One and PC.
The successor to the PES series will offer players a taste of what to expect from the new free-to-play football simulation platform, before the arrival of the first major update expected this fall. The same update will also mark the debut of eFootball 2022 on iOS and Android devices.
Seitaro Kimura, producer of the series eFootball for Konami Digital Entertainment commented: “’EFootball’ is the name of our new football platform, ‘eFootball 2022’ is the official title of our first season of content. The platform updates will bring new features, such as cross-platform matchmaking and support for mobile controllers, will be released frequently in the coming months and will always be free. Future updates on content and game modes will be offered to players both for free and with a premium option. We can’t wait to bring the players onto the pitch and receive their feedback ”.
Contents of eFootball 2022 on day one
The heart of eFootball is eFootball World, where players will be able to enjoy games with real teams from September 30th at no cost. Contents include:
Match Offline
- Play against AI or an offline friend with nine authentic clubs to choose from: FC Barcelona, FC Bayern München, Juventus, Manchester United, Arsenal FC, SC Corinthians Paulista, CR Flamengo, CA River Plate, São Paulo FC.
- Choose from six stadiums: Camp Nou, Old Trafford, Allianz Stadium, Emirates Stadium, Allianz Arena, and Football Stadium.
Online Events
- Experience cross-generation matchmaking experience (PlayStation 5 vs. PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X | S vs. Xbox One) through weekly events with pre-established teams and earn rewards such as GP.
Contents of the first Major Update
This fall (exact date will be announced soon) many key features will be added to eFootball World, including Creative Teamsthrough the first great free update. At the same time, the new platform monetization model, rebalanced to ensure that all players achieve the same potential, regardless of how many and which items they purchased in-game. The new content will include:
Creative Teams
- Contract the players and managers who best fit your ideal line-up and playing tactics, then train and strengthen them to prepare them to compete with players from around the world. In eFootball 2022 players will be able to aim for the purchases they want most, making it more accessible to create their own team.
- Choose a Team Base from over 600 officially licensed clubs / teams to use their crest, kit and stadium, before forming the team of your dreams.
New Match Modes
- eFootball Creative League – a league where players can use their Creative Team to compete against other players and become the best in the world. Earn points to be promoted to the next level in the league and get rewards based on your performance in each of the 10 rounds of matches.
- Tour Event – Play against the AI in Tour events and earn rewards by accumulating Event Points
- Challenge Event – play against other players online and complete the assigned objectives to get rewards.
- Online Quick Match – Play casual online matches against other players using one of over 600 officially licensed clubs / teams. Also available through new cross-platform matchmaking (PC and console only)
- Online Match Lobby – create an online match room and invite other players for 1vs1 matches.
New types of players
- Standard – players evaluated on the basis of their performances during the current season, can be contracted with eFootball Coins (Chance Deal) or GP (Nominating Contracts)
- Trending – players evaluated on the basis of specific matches or weeks during which they have been the protagonists of impressive performances, can be placed under contract with Nominating Contracts
- Featured – players directly selected by the player who can be placed under contract with eFootball Coins (Chance Deal) or eFootball Points (Nominating Contract)
- Legendary – players rated on the basis of a specific notable season, can be contracted with eFootball Coins (Chance Deal) or eFootball Points (Nominating Contract)
- There are three in-game currencies in eFootball: eFootball Coins (premium currency), GP (earned by playing) and eFootball Points (earned by playing)
Match Pass & Goals
- After a certain number of matches played, Match Passes will reward items such as the “Nominating Contract”, which will allow players to sign specific players of their choice, eFootball Coins and much more. Players will also have the option to purchase a premium “Advantage Match Pass” for greater rewards.
- Additionally, players will receive in-game rewards for completing certain objectives and for even greater rewards players will be able to spend eFootball Coins to unlock Premium Achievements
