GTA San Andreas Remastered? Take Two does not rule it out, GTA 5 has sold 140 million copies

All Game News

The news is quite sensational, if we think that it comes from the direct words of Take Two Interactive and that it concerns one of the greatest video games in history, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreaswhich could come back with a revised and modern version.

Over the past few hours, Take-Two Interactive held a regular meeting with investors to talk about the profits of the recent quarter and the future of the company, with a particular focus on the Grand Theft Auto franchise.

Without naming in any way GTA 6which was the subject of new rumors a few days ago and of which we had the first official information in January, T2 CEO Strauss Zelnick has once again praised the work of Rockstar Games, with the numbers that are under the eyes of all: with the latest results, GTA V has reached the figure of 140 million copies sold.

A number that consolidates the blockbuster of 2013 in the third place of the best-selling video games of all time, and that brings it closer to Tetris – but still very far away.

A result that comes not only from the enormous success achieved over the years, but also from the arrival of The Cayo Perico Heistthe latest expansion of GTA Online that debuted in December and which has guaranteed record takings for GTA 5 despite more than 7 years have passed since the game’s launch.

What interests us, however, are not the numbers of GTA 5, which were astounding even before the announcement of the 140 million copies sold, but what Zelnick said about some rumors of the last months and years around the Grand Theft Auto series. .

In fact, for some time we have been talking about the possible reinterpretation, by Rockstar Games, of some great classics of the past, in particular GTA III, GTA: Vice City and GTA: San Andreas. The first 3D era trilogy of the franchise still represents a trio of unforgettable video games that have had a significant impact on gamers and the industry.

We are not talking about real remakes – at least at the moment – but instead of re-proposing the great classics that could exploit new technologies. A kind of GTA San Andreas Remastered, in short, that could restore the immortal title of 2004. Will it really come, someday? Surprisingly, Strauss Zelnick does not close the door to the realization of this particular edition.

The CEO of Take-Two has in fact stated that the executives would be happy to see content of this type in the near future, even if the last word belongs to Rockstar Games, the creators of the franchise:

It’s a fantastic and encouraging question, I am quite inclined to leave it more as a statement than a question and any updates on our release schedule will come from Rockstar Games

It is certainly no mystery that GTA fans want to savor the great titles of the past, just think of the recent fanmade trailer of GTA San Andreas that reimagines the famous game in a hypothetical PS5 version.

You would like to see it someday the remastered GTA 3, Vice City and San Andreas trilogy for current hardware?
