A rather strange and unproductive move to be a pure marketing choice. Behind this change of course there is in fact a legal struggle discovered and told by VGC extension. In particular, it seems that Monster Energy, a well-known chain of energy drinks was ready to take Ubisoft to court. According to the company, in fact, Gods & Monsters would have been a title that came too close to its brand, causing possible confusion for consumers. To avoid legal costs, Ubisoft would therefore have decided to change the name of its video game, closing the matter without the intervention of lawyers or courts.
