Rob Wiethoff, interpreter of John Marston, talks about Red Dead Redemption 3

All Game News

Self Red Dead Redemption 3 is in progress, Rob Wiethoff, the actor who played John Marston, doesn’t know. But that doesn’t mean that if Rockstar Games contacted him, he wouldn’t immediately reprise the role of the iconic outlaw.

In October, three years will have passed since the release of Red Dead Redemption 2, the 2018 blockbuster that has amazed all over the world. With Rockstar Games at work on GTA 6, nothing has yet been known about a hypothetical third chapter of the series (the fourth, if we also count Red Dead Revolver), but it is also true that in the event that the American software house actually works at RDR3, many years will pass before we see it.

After all, 8 years passed between the release of the first Red Dead Redemption and its sequel, this due to a meticulous and long development that has occupied Rockstar Games. If the pattern will repeat itself, we may only hear about Red Dead Redemption 3 in 2026although we suspect the wait could be much longer.

That said, Weithoff, who played John Marston in the two chapters of the Redemption series, was recently asked if he’d be interested in returning for a third game in the series. The actor has responded positively, even if, he points out, no one from Rockstar Games has so far talked to him about a possible return:

If they ask me, of course, I will. If they don’t, I’m sure it’s going to be a really, really great, great game, just like the other two. If it only depended on me, [risponderei di sì] in a second.

In the same interview, Weithoff confesses that he loves working with Rockstar Games and reveals that he would be ready to play any role, big or small.

If Rockstar called me and said “We have a role for you that isn’t for Red Dead Redemption, you won’t be John Marston”. Big or small, even if the story is totally different, I would. I would love to do it, I love work, I love people.

Considering the success of Red Dead Redemption 2, it seems that a third installment is quite inevitableand given the precedents it is possible that the production will not depart from the story already told between John Marston and Arthur Morgan, as members of the Van der Linde gang.

As we have already mentioned, however, the arrival of a hypothetical Red Dead Redemption 3 is still a long way off.
