A new Star Wars video game by the end of 2021? The new rumor causes a stir on Redditand brings Electronic Arts back into fashion.
A few weeks ago Lucasfilm Games kicked off a series of major announcements. The franchise exclusivity agreement Star Wars with Electronic Arts, which has dealt with the saga for the last 8 years, is in fact over, and the division of Disney has announced that it is working together with Ubisoft on an unpublished open world by Massive Entertainment. We don’t know much about the game, except that it will be set in the universe of Star Wars and that it won’t come very soon.
As specified by Lucasfilm and EA, however, the American giant also intends to continue working on the franchise, and today’s rumor would be proof of this.
Over the years, EA has produced a fluctuating series of Star Wars video games, from two Battlefront shooters to great action adventure. Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order of 2019, of which a sequel could be in development – the certainty is not yet there.

The user OrcaOrcaisnotalonewhich in recent days has also made headlines for the much talked about returns of Knights of the Old Republic (even if its information is in contrast with that of other insiders in recent days), published on Reddit some alleged details about a Star Wars video game in development at EA and which has not yet been officially announced, but which will be launched by the end of 2021.
The mysterious project, in the works for just over 2 years, would be a title of smaller proportions than games like Fallen Order (the user makes the comparison with Star Wars: Squadrons), even if the nature is not yet clear. According to user sources, the game will certainly be a shooterbut we are not told whether it will be a TPS or an FPS.
Developed on Unreal Engine 4, the game is expected to arrive in the fourth quarter of 2021 on all platforms (Switch excluded).
Of course, this is information from an anomalous and unconfirmed user, however it is curious the fact that only a few days ago the actors who played the characters of Star Wars: Battlefront II returned to shoot some sequences in motion capture. Taking advantage of the good reputation the game has made in recent years thanks to exemplary support and a rich community, EA could really be hard at work on an alleged Battlefront III arriving at the end of 2021.
However, we must also point out that EA’s autumn / winter 2021 season will also be characterized by the new Battlefield, on which the company will obviously focus a lot. It is difficult to speculate that the colossus will launch two shooters in the same period, given the not happy precedents – you may remember that in 2016 Titanfall 2 was literally crushed by Battlefield 1.
