The development of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake it must not be easy, considering that the game has already been postponed on two occasions. Apparently, however, it is not just internal problems, but also some changes that have slowed down production.
Announced last September at the conference Ubisoft ForwardPrince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake is the ambitious revival of the classic 2003 action adventure. Presented with a first trailer that immediately generated a wave of controversy due to the graphics sector, the game is developed by Ubisoft India, a small studio of the French giant recently created.
The developers were quick to state that it was simply a matter of aesthetic choices, but by that time something must have broken in the production machine. The remake of the first chapter of the trilogy, initially scheduled for January 2021, was in fact first postponed to March, only to be recently postponed again. And this time Ubisoft is not out of balance: the launch date is still undefined.
But why all these second thoughts? The problems of the COVID-19 pandemic are certainly a contributing cause, but apparently the problems in the development of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake they were born right after the global presentation.
The youtuber Blakwoodz has made a video lasting about 4 minutes and which you can retrieve via the link at the bottom of the page, in which he claims that Ubisoft was in trouble, so to speak, after the announcement of the remake of Prince of Persia. The reception of the public was in fact generally negative mainly due to the graphics sector, and this forced the headquarters to change the development in the run-up.
The source of this youtuber, who is allegedly an employee of Ubisoft India, said that development of the remake was initially given to a very inexperienced group and never really can handle a game of this magnitude – and importance. The backlash provoked by the announcement of the game, which was widely criticized as we mentioned earlier, forced Ubisoft to assign the creation of the remake to a more experienced team, which therefore found itself in the position of having to basically recreate the remake from scratch. With development perhaps even starting all over again, it is obvious that the delays and postponements we have seen in recent months have been recurring.
Ubisoft and Ubisoft India did not comment on the news.
