Sony’s dietrofront after numerous requests from users, who in recent weeks have strongly opposed the closure of some divisions of PlayStation Store.
With an official blog post, Sony has in fact announced that the PS3 and PS Vita stores will not close as stated previously.
Initially, the decision to discontinue the purchase functionality for PS3 and PS Vita arose from a number of factors, including the difficulties associated with supporting commercial features for older devices and the ability to focus more resources on the latest devices on most of our users play. However, we have found that many fans really care about the possibility of continuing to buy classic titles for PS3 and PS Vita for the foreseeable future, so I am happy that we were able to find a solution to continue to guarantee these features.
The voice of the community, therefore, made itself heard, and Sony decided to listen to it. Good news especially for the very first PlayStation library, which would otherwise have become inaccessible with the closure of the two stores.
However, the fate of PlayStation Store on PSP does not changewhose closure is confirmed: the purchase functionality will be available until 2 July.
