The success of Xbox Game Pass Does it scare Sony and Nintendo? Phil Spencerboss of Microsoft’s Xbox division, affirms his total openness to any platform, but of course this is not up to him.

Xbox Game Pass is the subscription service from Microsoft that revived the Xbox division in the last generation after a nightmare start, and which is now projecting the American company into a whole new world for the market.

Through the Game Pass, which is a subscription with a paid subscription, each user has a huge library of video games available, including all the productions of the Xbox Game Studios, available from day one on the service. Every month the service is enriched with contents – in this regard, here are the news for August.

Xbox Game Pass is currently available on all Xbox platforms (One and Series X | S) and Windows 10 PCs, as well as Android and Apple. In addition, in recent months, the cloud gaming service has also arrived on numerous additional devices such as Smart TVs, proof of the fact that Microsoft is pushing the service in this direction.

Given the arrival of the Game Pass on other platforms, does this mean that we will also see it on PlayStation 5 and Switch? No.

Interviewed by Gamesradar, Phil Spencer talked about what the future of Xbox Game Pass will be, also discussing future platforms that could enjoy the service. While the Xbox boss’s willingness is to take the service pretty much everywhere, it clashes with the closure of Sony and Nintendothat, according to the manager, these are not interested in the Game Pass.

Here is an excerpt from the interview:

It’s a fair question, people ask me about the launch of this or that game. I always reply that I want the entire Xbox experience to be available. At this time, we have no plans to bring Xbox services to other closed platforms, because it’s the closed platforms that don’t want Xbox Game Pass. However, there are many other open platforms that will allow us to grow, such as web, PC and mobile. Our efforts are on these platforms.

Spencer then also discussed what the strategy of the service and Xbox will be, which does not focus on copying the success of other companies but instead looking for a new way to surprise consumers.

“Our strategy is not simply to become like someone else”says Spencer. “Sometimes I get questions like ‘where is your version of this or that [gioco]? ‘. I’ve been in this industry for a long time, have enormous respect for creators across all platforms and know many, many of them. But it’s good if we’re doing something different than what other platforms are doing. We’re not just about trying to make a green version of someone else’s blue or red color platform. This is not the example of creativity I want to see in the gaming industry ”.
