We hadn’t heard from the sequel in a long time tomb Raider, the 2018 film with Alicia Vikander inspired by the new series of videogame adventures by Lara Croft made by Crystal Dynamics and Eidos Montreal. Today, however, an important update arrives, and the development of the film comes alive.
In recent months, the details on Tomb Raider 2 (provisory title) have been few, if not none, especially after the project is been delayed indefinitely in the MGM release calendar – following the pandemic, theatrical releases have been severely slowed down, for example No Time to Die with Daniel Craig recently (again) postponed.
In the night just passed, however, an important update finally arrived, with the news that Misha Green will write and direct the next sequel. Ben Wheatley of Rebecca And Free Fire he had already been involved in the project.
Green is the showrunner and executive producer of Lovecraft Country, the 2020 HBO series that aroused great interest in audiences and critics. He also directed the eighth episode of the series, “Jig-a-Bobo”. Green has already co-created, produced and written the series Underground by WGN.
The director confirmed the involvement in Tomb Raider 2 also on Twitter with a nice post.
Did you enjoy the 2018 film with Alicia Vikander in the role of Lara Croft?
My fav from classic era is Legend & from survival era it’s a tie between Rise & Shadow. So I’m thinking something like:
