Surprisingly, new images arrive from Uncharted moviescheduled to hit theaters later this year, which give us some potential clues to the film’s setting.
After the first official images of Tom Holland in the role of the young Nathan Drake, the adventurer protagonist of the Naughty Dog video game series, and some stolen shots of Mark Wahlberg, who will play Victor Sullivan, here is the official Twitter profile of the Uncharted movie greeted the new year with four unpublished images, which also give hope that the first trailer is very close (the film will be released on July 16, unless further postponements).
In the new images, which you can find below, we see some important details that can probably give us fundamental information on the setting.
In the first photo, we can see a precious golden cross with some rubies set, but which, as you can see, is not a unique piece as another example can be seen in the background. The two keys are also found on a series of maps of some islands, which at this time we have not been able to identify (report them in the comments if you have some ideas).
One of these crosses then returns in the second photo, where we discover that it is a key to open a very special lock. Judging from the image, the one holding the key might just be Tom Holland.
While the third photo doesn’t seem to tell us much more – even if we notice that the symbol on the statue’s shield seems to be that of the cross just seen on several occasions, perhaps it is some particular order like the Knights Templar? We can also see that an object seems to be missing from the statue’s hands, perhaps a sword – the fourth shot is perhaps the most revealing of all.
In fact, we see an ancient planisphere, which evidently dates back to a time when the Australian continent had not yet been explored (we can hypothesize that the map dates back to the 17th century), in which all lines converge in the middle of Africa, which makes suspect that the treasure object of Nathan Drake’s new research will be right in the equatorial zone of the African continent.
