Today’s bomb drops it Valve that announces Steam Deckyour portable gaming PC!

With a completely surprise announcement, even if it follows the rumors of the past months, the company of Gabe Newell showed for the first time the new “console” Steam Deck, described as a powerful gaming laptop whose appearance is definitely inspired by Nintendo Switch despite obvious changes.

As you can see below, in fact, Steam Deck will consist of a single body with a 7-inch touchscreen and levers placed symmetrically to it. On the right side of the console there are also the classic 4 keys, while in the central part on the sides we find two practical trackpads that will allow for greater precision and ergonomics especially in shooters.

Unlike the Switch, however, the console body is unique, and it is not possible to separate the controllers on either side of the screen.

The gyroscopic technologies, the presence of an internal memory and the compatibility with MicroSD that can expand the memory, and the possibility of using Steam Deck as a real PC are reported: it will in fact be possible to connect the computer to a monitor or TV and use it as a traditional gaming PC through which you will be able to play the entire Steam catalog – obviously we refer to the securities in your possession.

Steam Deck is coming in December 2021, at a cost of € 419. Pre-orders will open tomorrow, July 16, at 19:00 Italian time.

Here are some of the hardware features quickly:

  • Fast Storage: Find the onboard storage you need: 64GB eMMC, 256GB NVMe SSD (faster), or 512GB NVMe SSD (even faster). If you’re looking for more space, boost your built-in storage with a microSD card and fill it with even more games.
  • Hi-Fi Audio: The Steam Deck’s stereo speakers are super powerful. A built-in DSP delivers deep, clear sound for an immersive listening experience. Plug in your favorite headphones or use the built-in dual microphones to chat with your friends.
  • 40 Wh Battery: Steam Deck’s built-in 40-watt battery provides several hours of playtime for most titles. For lighter use such as streaming games, smaller 2D games, or web browsing, you can expect a maximum battery life of around 7-8 hours.
  • Expandable I / O: The single USB-C jack is multifunctional – it can be used for charging, peripherals, or even to simultaneously view the game on a large screen. You can use any USB-C hub to expand your options, or get our official dock as soon as it’s released. You can find more information about the dock below.
  • Wireless: WiFi connects you to the world and Bluetooth allows you to connect to a wide range of wireless peripherals, from controllers to headphones, keyboard to mouse.
  • Quick suspend and restart: We have included a quick suspend / restart feature in SteamOS. Pressing the power button will cause the Steam Deck to suspend the game and enter sleep mode. Pressing the button again will restart the Steam Deck exactly where you left off.

Valve also announced that, just like the Nintendo Switch, the Steam Deck will also have an official dock that will allow you to keep your PC stable and charged. However, the official dock will be sold separately.
