Ubisoft has officially announced XDEFIANThis new free to play shooter with strong similarities with the franchise of call of Duty.
Presented with a first gameplay trailer, XDEFIANT will be playable as early as August 5 through a test that can be registered right now – the test is for the moment intended for the US and Canadian markets.

XDefiant is a new IP from Tom Clancy’s brand, but we won’t find “original” material inside. The game will indeed be a kind of massive crossover between the narrative universes of three Ubisoft series well known, namely Splinter Cell, The Division and Ghost Recon.
The settings of this new shooter will therefore be inspired by the three series just mentioned, as well as the playable characters who will be part of the factions of the games “born” from the pen of Tom Clancy.
Here are some of the information spread through the trailer:
- CUSTOM GAME STYLE: Customize your Defiant to suit your play style. Choose your faction, traits, abilities and ultras. Choose from an arsenal of primary and secondary weapons, accessories and a device to complement your gear, then tweak it on the fly to suit an ever-changing battlefield.
- COMPETITIVE MATCHES: Tom Clancy’s XDefiant offers a variety of competitive 6v6 arenas and linear game modes, such as Domination and Escort. Combine it with a large pool of uniquely designed rolling maps and no two games will be alike.
- DIFFERENT DEFIANT FACTIONS: Factions of wolves, outcasts, cleaners and Echelons fighting in iconic locations are just the starting point. We will continue to add to our cast of Defiants as the game evolves, drawing on a variety of characters and abilities from the Clancy universe and beyond.
No release date has been announced at the moment, but we know that XDefiant will launch on PS5, Xbox Series X | S, PS4, Xbox One, PC and Stadia.
